Desiree Winthrop was a blonde fashion model living and working in New York City. She was a frequent visitor to the Daily Grind coffee shop.

Desiree Winthrop met Ben Reilly at the Daily Grind. (He worked there.) She did not know that he was secretly Spider-Man. (Ben Reilly was a clone of the original Spider-Man - Peter Parker. This was during a time that Ben Reilly returned to New York after wandering around the country for years.)

Desiree liked Ben Reilly in a romantic way, or perhaps it was just a crush. When she saw him she frequently tried to tell him that she liked him, but she always indicated her feelings in a such a confusing, indirect way that he never caught on.

Nothing ever came of Desiree Winthrop's flirtations with Ben Reilly. He was killed by the Green Goblin and Desiree Winthrop has not appeared in comics since then.
