Chester and Joe were oil rig workers who worked on an oil rig owned by Roxxon Oil, located off East Coast of the United States.

One day, the Serpent Squad, led by Viper and including Warlord Krang, attacked the oil rig that Chester and Joe worked on. In panel 2 on page 12, Joe saw the Serpent Squad craft landing on the rig. Joe said: "Hey, Chester-- look at that! Whattaya suppose it is?"

Chester responded: I dunno, Joe. You don't think it has anything to do with that 'Serpent Squad,' do you?"

Chester and Joe, along with other oil rig workers, can be seen in a few other panels on pages 12 and 13, as the Serpent Squad invades the rig and uses the captive Roxxon president to force them to reverse the oil pumps in an attempt to raise Lemuria.

In panel 5 on page 12, Joe responds to Serpent Squad member Cobra's commands, saying: "Yeah, big man -- very clear. But what do you want with us? This is nothing but a Roxxon drilling rig!"

Chester added: "Haven't you heard--the energy crisis isn't that serious any more!"
