Barney Wicker was running for congress. Spider-Man overheard people plotting to assassinate Wicker, but Spider-Man mistakenly thought that the conspirators were talking about a marathon race.

Fortunately, Spider-Man realized he had misinterpreted the overhead conversation in time to step in and save Wicker from being murdered.
