Joan Weis was an astrophysicist. Years ago, her parents were both killed during an intense battle between the Silver Surfer and Tyros the Terrible. Roman Stewart was a private investigator whose parents dies during the same battle.
Stewart harbored a great deal of hatred toward the Silver Surfer because of what happened. He plotted to kill the Surfer. During this time he met Joan Weis, and the two of them fell in love. Stewart was finally convinced that he should not try to kill the Silver Surfer.
