On the night that Captain America was having a relaxing night on the town with his girlfriend, Diamondback (in their civilian identities), Gamecock took his ex-girlfriend Charlotte hostage. This caused a standoff with police, and caused a traffic snarl ahead of where Cap and Diamondback were heading. Diamondback's friends were trying to prevent anything from disturbing Diamondback's date with Cap. Without letting the couple know about their assistance, Diamondback's close friend The Asp handled the situtation by zapping Gamecock.
