Duncan Vess was a werewolf who turned his back on the Werewolf society he had once been a part of. He largely rejected their ways, heritage and beliefs.

Vess became a successful novelist by writing novels about werewolves, while passing himself off as a regular non-werewolf human.

The Council of Werewolves hired the assassin Deadpool to kill Vess, but Vess was protected by the mutant super-hero Wolverine.

Vess has lived for a long time. In 1760 he was already a full-grown adult.
