Jim Hendricks discovered a frightened alien on his farm. The alien had come to Earth in an advanced space ship, fleeing dangerous pursuers.

Jim Hendricks tried to protect the alien refugee, who referred to himself as "The Captive."

The police wouldn't help Jim. They thought he was crazy or telling outlandish lies when he tries to tell them about a UFO landing on his farm. Captain America was nearby, participating in a TV debate on a local talk show. Jim called the TV station and managed to get word to Captain America that there was a UFO on his farm. Cap went to Jim's farm to investigate, and ended up right in the middle of a battle between Jim (armed with weaponry from the Captive's space craft) and powerful pursuers known as Stalkers.

Unfortunately for Jim Hendricks, the Captive turned out to be an evil parasite that steals life force from people, killing them.

The Captive absorbed Jim's life force and killed him, despite all that Jim had done to bravely defend the Captive from his pursuing former captors.
