The Crimson Daffodil hired gunmen as a gang of robbers. The gunmen wore brightly patterned shirts while in his service.
Later the Crimson Daffodil turned his back on crime and wanted to become a costumed adventurer and crimefighter.
As his name suggests, the "Crimson Daffodil" is based in part on the classic masked adventurer character known as "The Scarlet Pimpernel."
