A giant red fish with massive teeth lived in the ocean off the West Coast of the United States, in the Pacific Ocean near San Francisco, near the X-Men's island headquarters known as Utopia.

During the conflict known as "Avengers versus X-Men" (centered on how to deal with the impending arrival of the Phoenix), the Thing battled Namor, the Sub-Mariner. During thir battle, this giant red fish swam up behind Namor. Namor grabbed the fish by the tail, saying "Forgive me, my creature, but I need to enlist your aid." Namor swung the fish and clobbered the Thing with it.

The Thing grabbed onto the giant red fish and pulled out two of the fish's largest teeth. The Thing then charged toward Namor and used the teeth to pin him to the ocean floor. Meanwhile, the giant red fish swam away, relatively unharmed.
