Dr. Mifune was a colleague of Dr. Curt Connors (who is also known as the villainous Lizard).
Dr. Mifune studied the moon gem that turned John Jameson into Man-Wolf. When Captain America was investigating the disappearance of his friend (and pilot), John Jameson, Cap visited Dr. Mifune. It was then that Dr. Mifune discovered that the moon gem had been stolen from his lab.
