"Punchy" was a muscular man who worked out in a large gymnasium on the West Side in New York City.

Punchy was working out in the gym when the villainous Purple Man went there and used his super power of suggestion to force all the other men working out there to act as an army of bodyguards and henchmen. Only Punch refused. Perhaps Punchy had an unusually strong will, or (as has been speculated by some sources), perhaps he was too slow-witted was the Purple Man's power to work on him in a timely manner. Either way, Punchy refused the Purple Man's orders and attacked the Purple Man.

The Purple Man's newly-recruited henchmen (all the other men working out in the gym) went into action to protect their "master." They attacked Punchy en masse. They injured Punchy, but Purple Man stopped them from killing him, telling them they had other things they needed to do.

All in all, Punchy was a rather minor character, but in standing up to the super-villain like the Purple Man, he seems like he must have been a rather strong and/or noble man.
