Daredevil was wanted by the police because the villain Jester framed Daredevil for the murder of Jonathan Powers (Jester's true identity).
Daredevil was battling Jester on Bedlow Island, off the coast of New York City. A police helicopter arrived. Johnson, a police officer, fell out of the helicopter. He was very fortunate because Daredevil saved his life by catching him. Despite owing his life to Daredevil, Johnson nevertheless performed the duty he had come to do: he captured Daredevil (by injecting the masked hero with a sedative) and took him into police custody.
