Baal sent the robot Mr. Kline (a.k.a. the "Assassin") back in time to alter the past. Baal destroyed the two androids known as the "Final Sons of Man" (Father and Son).

Baal first appeared in Iron Man (vol. 1) #41, when the mysterious Mr. Kline communicated with his even-more-mysterious superior. This is Baal, but his not yet named or identified.

Baal was an important behind-the-scenes figure in a number of issues before finally being fully seen and named in Daredevil (vol. 1) #84.

The far-future Earth timeline that Baal resides in is known as Earth-71778.
