Elder Nahum Jenk was the leader of the Congregation of Righteousness, which long ago cast out Nahum's brother, Jeremiah. Jeremiah Jenk became a successful criminal and an ally of Kingpin. As an older man, Jeremiah Jenk wanted to be reconciled with the Congregation of Righteousness. He sought Matt Murdock's help (as an attorney) to negotiate with Elder Nahum to allow this to happen. Elder Nahum Jenk, however, tried to kill his brother using "religious candles" laced with arsenic.

Jeremiah's ally the Kingpin sent his men to kill Elder Nahum, but Daredevil stopped them.

Jeremiah turned himself over the congregation to ask for foregiveness.
