Jeremiah Jenk was a gifted counterfeiter and a long-time ally of the Kingpin. When Jeremiah sought to reconcile with the religious sect he was raised in, the Congregation of Righteousness, this brought him into conflict with the sect's current leader, Nahum Jenk, who was Jeremiah's brother. Jeremiah's sons John and Matthew asked for protection because they felt threatened by Nahum Jenk. The Kingpin responded by ordering one of his trusted henchmen, Wilson to protect Jeremiah.

Wilson ordered Max the Tooth and other thugs who worked for Kingpin to protect the home of Jeremiah Jenk. He ordered Max and other thugs to kill Nahum Jenk (which went far beyond anything Jeremiah would have wanted to happen). Wilson's man Max and others succeeded in burning down Nahum Jenk's home, but Daredevil stopped them from killing Nahum.
