Arthur Goren was the father of Frieda Goren, the close friend and eventual girlfriend of the super-hero Static.
Frieda Goren's Jewish religious affiliation and ethnic identity was a prominent aspect of the character. Like his daughter, Arthur was Jewish. In the "Static Shock" TV episode titled "Frozen Out," Arthur Goren hosted a Hanukkah party for Frieda's friends and family when the power went out.
Arthur Goren and his wife were both active in radical circuits during the 1970s.

Virgil gets stuck planning a gig with Commando X. Static foils him again as he stops a bomb meant to blow up city hall. Virgil and Frieda's parents give them a lecture on racism and how racist attitudes are misleading under the guise of politics and justice. Frieda and Virgil have a reconciliation of sorts over their different views. Static faces and defeats Commando X finally. Static has to sneak home as we still see the streets of Dakota littered with racist views.
