In panel 1 on page 8 in Megaton Man #1 (Nov. 1984), a satirical reference is made to Spider-Man and his Aunt May (and also Ben Grimm's Aunt Petunia). Megaton Man's aunt (Petunia) is named after Ben Grimm's aunt, who Grimm frequently referenced in humorous dialogue.

Narration: "Trent Phloog! Mild-mannered cub reporter! Devoted nephew! Troubled, teenaged grad student in urban oceaonography! And -- Megaton Man!!"

Megaton Man (thinking): "My life is so troubled! I'm a thirty-year old teenager -- that awkward time filled with phobias and hang-ups! Poor, dear, sweet, fragile Aunt Petunia! I'm such a worry to her!"

On page 25 in Megaton Man #1, we see Megaton Man in a heated battle with the Contraptoid. He thinks about Aunt Petunia: "Poor Aunt Petunia! How I've neglected her -- The woman who raised me!"

The next panel shows a flashback in which we see Aunt Petunia opening the door to Megaton Man's room, saying: "Oh, that Trent!"
