Although there were previous glimpses of the space craft carrying the "Partyers from Mars," the crew member known as "Captain" was first identified specifically on page 8 in Megaton Man #3 (Apr. 1985). At this point he is not yet seen. The Partyers' space craft is seen here on a splash page, along with dialogue:

"Engineer! What's going on here?!!!"

"I never seen a-nuthin' like it, Cap'n, sir! She just won't stay on the bloody course! It's like she's got a mind of her own!!!"

"Science officer! Explanation!"

"Captain, a Klingon Party store has us in some sort of tractor beam!!! Resistance is futile!"

"Warp six, Helmsman!!!"

"Aye aye, Captain!!!"

"--And get those empties ready!!!"

The Captain's first name (Jim) is identified on page 14 when he speaks with Bones:

Bones (responding angrily to Pup's reading of their sealed orders): "'Rock planet'--?!! Why you floppy-eared, tongue-sweating, inhuman-- mutt!!! Do you realize what you're saying??? You're talking about-- an entire culture-- about meddling with an alien species of intelligent life! -- What about-- non-interference? What about-- the Prime Directive?!!"

Pup: "Doctor, your outburst is most illogical."

Bones: "Jim, what I want to know is: Who gave the order? The Federation? Starfleet?"

Captain (Jim): "Bones, we gave the order! We wrote it!"

Bones: "Oh, yeah."

Jim is essentially humanoid in appearance, but he has long elf-like (or Spock-like) ears.
