"Bones" is the ship's doctor on the space craft used by the Partyers from Mars. His head looks like a skull. He is based on Dr. McCoy (a.k.a. "Bones") from the "Star Trek" TV and film franchise.

Although there were previous glimpses of the space craft carrying the "Partyers from Mars," the medical officer known as "Bones" was first seen specifically on page 14 in Megaton Man #3 (Apr. 1985). He is one of a number of characters who are clearly visible but heavily shadowed. His name is first identified when the Captain speaks to him.

Bones (responding angrily to Pup's reading of their sealed orders): "'Rock planet'--?!! Why you floppy-eared, tongue-sweating, inhuman-- mutt!!! Do you realize what you're saying??? You're talking about-- an entire culture-- about meddling with an alien species of intelligent life! -- What about-- non-interference? What about-- the Prime Directive?!!"

Pup: "Doctor, your outburst is most illogical."

Bones: "Jim, what I want to know is: Who gave the order? The Federation? Starfleet?"

Captain (Jim): "Bones, we gave the order! We wrote it!"

Bones: "Oh, yeah."
