Francine was a high school student from a wealthy family. She attended Snow Valley School for Girls, where she was a classmate of Emma Frost, whose telepathic powers were just beginning to emerge.
One day, while taking an important mid-term exam, Emma Frost found she didn't know the answers to a question, but she could "hear" answers from other students in her head. On a question asking for question asking for eight categories of Modern Art, with a description of each, Emma could only think of one on her own. From Francine, she got Abstract. From Matilda, she got Primitivism. From Joon, she got Expressionism. She telepathically "heard" the rest from the teacher.
