Yvonne Chilton was the daughter of Aubrey Chilton and Mrs. Bloom Chilton. Her half-sister (Mrs. Bloom Chilton's daughter from her previous marrage to the late Mr. Bloom) was Astrid Bloom.
When Emma Frost attended Empire State University, Astrid Bloom became a close friend and mentor, teaching Emma how to use her telepathic abilities better.
In flashback's, Astrid Bloom's dark past was eventually revealed. After Astrid's biological father died, her mother re-married - to Aubrey Chilton. Aubrey Bloom adopted Astrid and the couple also had a daughter: Yvonne. Astrid grew to be quite evil. She controlled her half-sister Yvonne and forced Yvonne to kill her parents: Aubrey and Mrs. Bloom Chilton.
This experience understandably caused Yvonne to experience great emotional trauma. She was institutionalized as a result.
Eventually Astrid Bloom revealed her darker nature to Emma Frost and they became enemies, until Emma shut Astrid's mind down.
