Mr. Belmont was apparently an human art director who worked with film director J.J. Colossal.

When he met the Fantastic Four while filming on location in New York City, Colossal managed to convince the team to star in an epic science fiction movie titled "The Fantastic Four Battle the Flying Saucers from Outer Space." The team traveled to Hollywood to be filmed for this movie.

Some time after work began on the film, an alien shape-changer of the Skrull race replaced Mr. Belmont and posed as the film's art director. In that position, the Skrull "Belmont" sabotaged various scenes in an effort to destroy the Fantastic Four.

The Skrull posing was Mr. Belmont was forced to leave Earth after the Fantastic Four defeated him and his fellow Skrull invader pies. The final fate of the real Mr. Belmont was never revealed.
