Captain Tickle spent his nickel
For a rubber ball,
And when he cut it open
There was nothing there at all.
Note that when the nursery rhyme was published in The Peter Patter Book of Nursery Rhymes, it was followed by an illustration, but that picture illustrates the previous nursery rhyme "Timothy Grady." The book does not contain any illustrations of the "Captain Tickle" nursery rhyme.
