Gussie Gander is one of the main characters in the film "Fairy Tale" (1978). At one point, her friend Sirus talks to her about her past, and specifically refers to as the "old woman who lived in a shoe and had so many children she didn't know what to do" until he came along and trained her in his "trade." Gussie Gander thus transformed her shoe into a brothel, and her "children" (who were adult women) became her "girls" who worked in the brothel.

Gussie Gander, who lives in a place explicitly referred to in the film as "Fairyland," is clearly based on the "Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe" from the famous nursery rhyme, but she is also named for the nursery rhyme "Goosey Goosey Gander." She should be regarded as a distinct character from "Goosey Goosey Gander," however, because she is a human and a female, whereas the central character in the traditional nursery rhyme is nearly always portrayed as a male goose.
