Professor Reagan Lexico and his daughter Tesi Lexico stowed away on Zephyr Jones' trip to Mars. After they launched, Professor Lexico forced Jones to detour and go to the star Cygni instead.
Professor Lexico invented a chemical compound that humans could ingest which would let them survive unaided on the "star" Cygni. (Most likely what was meant by this was that the compound allowed humans to survive on a planet in orbit around the star Cygni.)
Professor Lexico wanted to go to Cygni in order to collect a powerful energy source (which he dubbed "Star Dust"), which could be used a powerful replacement for valuable radium.
