In the episode in which the castaways on Gilligan's Island discover a boy living there alone, no explanation is ever provided as to how the boy (apparently a white American) came to be living there. He apparently lived there since early childhood, as he spoke no language and wore only a loincloth.

At the end of the episode, the castaways send the Jungle Boy back to civilization (Hawaii) in a hot air balloon that they construct. Unfortunately, the boy departs before they have a chance to teach him enough English to communicate their plight to anybody.

The Jungle Boy in this episode was played by a young Kurt Russell, before he went on to become a prominent movie star.
