Markie Trattman ran an illegal poker ring in Boston. A card game he organized was robbed by thugs hired by local mob boss Johnny "Squirrel" Amato. Mob leaders hired assassins, including Jackie Cogan, were hired to track down and kill the people responsible. Cogan killed Markie Trattman as well, even though he knew Trattman was not directly responsible for the card game being robbed. Cogan killed Trattman in order to restore confidence among the local mobsters.
