The very first scene in the pilot episode of the TV series "Hostages" shows Dr. Ellen Sanders and her family held captive in their home by a crew led by rogue FBI agent Duncan Carlisle. This scene lasts only a few seconds. Then the second scene begins, flashing back to 12 yours previous. In this second scene, the Eastchester Savings Bank in Washington, D.C. is being robbed by two masked bank robbers. The robbers have taken 13 customers and employees hostage. The bank is surrounded by police from the Metropolitan Police Department.
Duncan Carlisle arrives on the scene and announce that the FBI is now in charge, and that he is now the agent in charge of the situation. He quickly resolves the situation in a way that leaves both bank robbers dead and secures the release of all thirteen hostages without any of them being harmed.
