A new group of super-villains - the Savage Six - were threatening Venom (Flash Thompson) and his family. The villainous team (probably Jack O'Lantern specifically) killed Flash's brother-in-law (the husband of his sister Jessie Thompson). When Flash went to her Manhattan apartment to make sure she was save, she found her husband's corpse. Jessie wasn't there.
