Note: discovered Wolverine's skeleton in Central Park

New York City Police Department officers Ahmed and Gary were sitting in a squad car on the edge of Central Park when they saw a flare of lightning in the park. They went to investigate and found the adamantium-laced skeleton of Wolverine - all that was left of the mutant hero.

This scene began innocuously enough, with the two patrol partners marking small talk. Gary, a white officer said: "My kid loves Latin, can you believe that?"

Ahmed, a black officer, said: "Bedrock foundation of European languages."

Gary said: "That's what he said. But in sixth grade?"

Ahmed said: "Hey, man, I can't even understand the math kids study these days. Makes you start to feel old, y'know--"

Suddenly a bright light filled the sky. Ahmed exclaimed: "By the Prophet!?!"

Gary leaned out of the squad car to get a better look at the light show centered in Central Park. He radioed into headquarters, saying: "Central-K, this is Two-Five-Sierra--"

Speaking to his patrol partner, Gary said, "What the heck was that, Ahmed?"

From within the squad car, Ahmed said: "Some kind of explosion--!"

Ahmed and Gary left the squad car and walked into Central Park to investigate. Ahmed held a powerful flashlight to illuminate the way before them.

Gary asked: "Did you see the trail it left-- looked like the sky itself was on fire!"

Ahmed said: "Careful, Gary, we're getting close!"

Gary asked: "What's that stench?"

Then (as depicted on a splash page), Gary and Ahmed found the adamantium-laced skeleton of Wolverine, still smoldering from a powerful lightning-based attack.

Ahmed, looking down at the remains of the mutant hero, exclaimed: "Allah have mercy!"
