The Warborgs are reanimated corpses, turned into living (or "unliving") weapons. The technology, developed in Russia, utilizes cybernetics as well as cellular mutations derived from flesh that was mutated through a Russian counter-nuclear protocol.

The Warborg technology was developed during the Cold War by geneticist Dr. Constantin Racal. These zombie-like beings were designed as instruments of war. They were sent to destroy the "Sleepers" (sleeper agents from Russia, living in the United States, from a program also developed by Dr. Racal). When the Warborgs learned of the Sleeper children, they were sent to acquire them.

The Warborgs have battled the mutant super-team X-Force as well as SHIELD.
