Wing Brady set out on a mission to rescue Corporal Levun and his men (of the French Foreign Legion), who had been taken prisoner by a tribe of Bedouins. Brady captured the lead of the Bedouins. Brady then met with other leaders of the tribe in order to negotiate a prisoner exchange: Brady would turn over their leader to them in exchange for them releasing Corporal Levun and his soldiers.
Brady worked primarily with one particular Arab Bedouin negotiator. Brady thought that negotiations had been successfully arranged. But then, suddenly, the Bedouin negotiator tossed sand in Wing Brady's face and drew a weapon.
