Note: asked Ramblin' Jim to look out for a criminal

Ramblin' Jim had stayed in Sleepy Hollow for a time. But it was time for him to move on. As he was walking out of the town, he encountered Sheriff Smith and a police officer.

Sheriff Smith told Jim: "I'm Sheriff Smith -- if you see any desperate lookin' fellows around here let us know."

Jim asked Sheriff Smith: "Gee! Are ya trailin' somebody?"

Jim went on his way, somewhat surprised to hear that there were "desperate fellows" in Sleepy Hollow. Before long, Jim encountered the very criminal that Sheriff Smith was looking for. The criminal chased Jim, demanding Jim's food. Ramblin' Jim called out "Sheriff -- Help!" But the sheriff was apparently out of earshot. No help came.
