Ann Gora is Oswald Meak's girlfriend. He finds her cat-like tendencies somewhat annoying. Although she is a human, she does things that cats do, like drinking milk from a saucer, chasing birds, and purring at the moon.

Why does Ann Gora do these things? It is because she is a descendant from Cat-People. These are people from a village in Transylvania which practiced witchcraft, and was thus the inhabitants of the village were cursed to become Cat-People.

Note that Ann Gora's name is a play on words, derived from "Angora."
