A Boston district attorney was overseeing the state's case against Jenny Swensen. Swensen had been accused of the murder of Fritz Krotze. The lead detectives in the case, Detectives Sloan and Jenkins, came to realize that Swensen was innocent, however. They agreed to testify in Swensen's defense, so the District Attorney dropped the case and Jenny Swensen was freed.
