Wolverine encountered Dave Chapel, a man who was gravely wounded after having been tortured by thugs working for Madripoor crimelord Roche. Chapel died, but not before he told Wolverine "Save the Tiger." Chapel had with him a small cameo which contained a photograph of a woman and her partner.

Wolverine decided to investigate Chapel's death and try to bring his killers to justice. To that end, Wolverine went to Madripoor, going undercover as "Patch." He went to the Princess Bar, because that was a place said to be good for finding out information about Madripoor's underworld. When Wolverine mentioned that he was looking for information about Dave Chapel, multiple people in the bar, including the bar's co-owner O'Donnell, pulled out guns and pointed them at Wolverine.

Wolverine remained calm and explained that he met Dave Chapel just before the man died. Challenged by O'Donnell to prove the veracity of his story, Wolverine produced the cameo.

O'Donnell looked at the cameo and explained that the photo in it was of the woman for whom the Princess Bar was named, and her partner. Presumably, then, the woman's name was "Princess." Whether this was a given name, her title, or a nickname is unclear.
