Los Angeles-based criminal attorney Jennifer "Jen" Walters was defending a hood named Lou Monkton, who had been falsely accused of murdering a bodyguard working for gangster Nick Trask. Walters planted a rumor that she had secret evidence against the real murderer - Trask himself. Task sent thugs to kill Walters. Two of Trask's men shot her in front of her own home. Walters' cousin Bruce Banner held the thugs off and they fled, but Walters was gravely injured. Banner administered an emergency blood transfusion to save his cousin, and then he called for an ambulance to take her to a hospital.
Police brought Banner in for questioning regarding the shooting incident, but he fled before they could get the D.A. to talk to him, because he did not want them to find out he is the Hulk.
The next day (as shown on page 10 in The Savage She-Hulk #1), Bruce Banner was relieved to read that his cousin will recover. He read from a morning newspaper: "The doctor says Miss Walters will recover."
On the next page (page 11), Jennifer Walters is surprised to see three men dressed as doctors enter her room. The men are not doctors. They are thugs working for Nick Trask, sent to finish the job of killing her. Lying in her hospital bed, Jennifer said to them: "I don't know you! Where's my own doctor? Why does it take three of you to bring my medicine?"
The doctor quoted in this newspaper article, the doctor who treated Jennifer Walters for the gunshot wound in her back, was never shown "on-panel."
Note that the doctor who treated Jennifer Walters (off-panel) at the hospital in The Savage She-Hulk #1 is NOT the same doctor who lived across the street from her, and whose home and equipment Bruce Banner used to give her an emergency blood transfusion. These doctors, neither of whom was identified by name in this issue, were two different people.
