Two Native American children (a brother and sister) found a strange object in the desert while they were outside playing with a ball. Although they did not know it, the object was a respirator which had been used by Walter White in one of his earliest ventures into "cooking meth." The children brought the respirator to their mother, and the family brought it to police. An unnamed State Deputy who worked for the state of New Mexico was given the respirator. The deputy called out to DEA agents Hank Schrader and Steven Gomez and turned the respirator over to them. The respirator turned out to be a key clue in Hank and Steven's investigation into the source of a new, highly pure illegal meth that had been cropping up in Albuquerque.
