Baron von Hanson was the villain behind a criminal plot to steal a fortune in diamonds. The Baron led a band of diamond smugglers.
The Baron employed thieves who posed as window washers and used their access to the homes of wealthy people to steal their diamonds. The Baron's plot was thwarted by the new costumed hero "Firebrand." In the end, Firebrand forced the Baron to donate his stolen jewels to the war effort.
