Flatfoot Burns first appeared in Police Comics #19 (May 1943) and appeared in that monthly anthology comic book series semi-regularly until 1946. Uniquely, Flatfoot Burns made the leap from monthly comics to a syndicated strip in Will Eisner's Spirit comic section, which was published in newspapers.
