When Dewey Drip had his first opportunity to return home after he joined the Army and attended basic training, he brought with him a license he had purchased, so that he could get married to his sweetheart, Lulubelle. Dewey brought Lulu to the local justice of the peace. Unfortunately, the justice had to inform the illiterate Dewey that he had with him a license for hunting and fishing in the county. It was not actually a marriage license!
