Senyaka was named after Sam Senyaka, a friend of the character's creator, Scott Lobdell. Senyaka is from Sri Lanka, just like Scott Lobdell's friend Sam. As Senyaka is a ruthless mutant villain and Sam Senyaka is just a friend the writer met at a summer camp he attended while in college, it is unlikely that the similarities between real-life Sam Senyaka and comic book villain Suvik Senyaka extend much beyond their name and nationality.
