Note: One of the earliest Indian costumed superheroes.

Jamboo was a popular comic book character published in India by Tulsi Comics. The International Heroes website has a stub page for this character listed under the name "Jumbu." The character's standard spelling in English, however, is "Jamboo." Looking at that website's picture of "Jumbu," it is easy to see that he is the same character as "Jamboo."

Earlier note: At this point I think that "Jumbu" is NOT simply an alternative spelling of "Jumbo," a cartoon and comic book character about which significant material seems to have been published. Unless there is a DIFFERENT "Jumbo," who is a human superhero of Indian origin, I think that "Jumbo" refers to the little elephant star of a Thai film made in conjunction with Indian filmmakers, including Akshay Kumar.

Apparent references to this project (which, once again, I think is NOT about the classic Indian character "Jumbu") include: http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/news/2008/12/10/12293/index.html; http://in.movies.yahoo.com/news-detail/40472/Watch-Jumbo-read-comics.html; http://in.movies.yahoo.com/news-detail/39537/Jumbo-competition-Aamir-Khans-Ghajini.html
