The character "Hank Skidoo" was based on real-life minor chicken magnate Frank Perdue. Frank Perdue (whose full birth name was Franklin Parsons Perdue), May 9, 1920 - March 31, 2005, was for many years the president and CEO of Perdue Farms, one of the largest chicken-producing companies in the United States. Perdue attained a minor level of celebrity because he appeared in over 200 of Perdue Farms' television commercials.

Based on the fact that Frank Purdue's funeral and viewing were held at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church (142 Shamrock Dr., Salisbury, MD), we are assuming that he was a member of this church. The Wesleyan Church is an Evangelical Protestant Christian denomination which has its roots in Methodism.
