Old Testament (1402 B.C.): "Deuteronomy":
The most tender and sensitive woman among you -- so sensitive and tender that she wouldn't even step on an ant -- will become stingy toward the husband she loves or toward her own son or daughter.
Note: A few translations of Deuteronomy 28:56 (incl. God's Word Bible and Names of God Bible) make reference to an ant, but we believe this is only a modern translation of an ancient idiomatic expression.
Old Testament (926 B.C.): "Proverbs":
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
Note: First mentioned in Proverbs 6:6. Reference continues in verses 7-8.
X-Men (vol. 1) #64 (Jan. 1970): "The Coming of Sunfire!", page 1:
Sunfire: "Ants! This is land of ants... of smug and smirking insects! But soon, they shall know the ominous tread of Sunfire!"
Note: Sunfire debuts in New York City, standing on a tall building, belittling Americans below.
