Timecode: 0 minutes, 0 seconds: Lois Lane watches from a window while a buff man (who must be a body builder) fights with Superman on a night time city street. The strong man easily defeats Superman, and then flies up to Lois Lane. He flies through the window and kisses her, as she says how grateful she is. None of this seems particularly real, and we soon see it isn't. A computer voice calls to "Jaxon," and we see Jaxon coming out of his virtual reality experience, in which he beat up Superman. Jaxon is actually a scrawny geek. He was simply playing at being a strong man - in virtual reality.

Timecode: 1 minute, 50 seconds: Computer voice (actually the voice of Paula Poundstone) chides Jaxon. We see the real Jaxon wearing a sophisticated helmet and virtual reality gloves. Jaxon is making kissing motions with his mouth, because in the game he had just started kissing Lois Lane.

Computer voice: Jaxon. Jaxon? Haven't you wasted enough time playing games?

Jaxon Xavier: I'm not playing. I'm rehearsing.

Computer voice: Ooh hoo! Rehearse all you want, it won't get you what you need.

[Within virtual reality, Jaxon's body builder avatar stops kissing Lois Lane and pushes a button on his watch. Jaxon comes out of virtual reality and takes off his helmet.]

Jaxon Xavier: I guess I just have to get used to the idea that in this world I may just be another geek with a lot of RAM. But in that world, I'm a god! [Smiling, speaking with great confidence.] And being a god takes a lot of practice.

Computer voice: That world is nothing but a pixelated pinball game, unless you get those passwords from the real Lois Lane.

Jaxon Xavier: Oh, I'll get them. She may not know it now, but she's gonna give me everything that I want.

[Jaxon laughs a snivelling, annoying laugh while standing before a very large computer screen (taller than he is). On the screen is a video closeup of Lois Lane's face. Lois here looks the same as she did in the virtual reality game Jaxon had been playing moments ago.]

Jaxon Xavier: Everything.

[Jaxon cackles an evil, maniacal and also annoying laugh.]

Timecode: 4 minutes, 14 seconds: Perry White chastises Jimmy Olsen for using virutal reality goggles in the Daily Planet offices. Jimmy says he was surfing through an online dating bank, trying to find a date for Perry, whose wife recently left him.

Perry White: Jimmy, I don't like dating services, and I don't trust computers. I'm most happy in this world knowing that if I grab this lamp, I know I'm grabbing this lamp. You get my meaning?

Jimmy Olsen: Yes, sir.

Perry White: Good.

[After Perry White walks away, Jimmy puts the virtual reality goggles back on.]

[Cut to elsewhere in the newsroom. Lois Lane arrives at her desk, reading a stack of vacation travel pamphlets. She is planning her honeymoon. When Lois Lane arrives at her desk, she admires a large bouquet of flowers that have been delivered there. The card tells her they came from her fiance, Clark Kent. Clark Kent brings her coffee.]

Clark Kent: Morning.

Lois Lane: [smiling brightly] Good morning. Thank you for the flowers, and the coffee. What's the occasion?

Clark Kent: The occasion is I'm in love, and I'm getting married. [Notices the travel vacation pamphlets.] What are these?

Lois Lane: Hmm. I've been thinking about our honeymoon.

Clark Kent: Oh, there's a nice thought.

[Clark's voice suggests he isn't thinking only about the sightseeing they might do at a vacation destination. He is ever-so-slightly hinting at looking forward to the marital activities that will happen on their honeymoon.]

Lois Lane: [giggles] With all the money we're gonna save on airfare [whispering] thanks to Superman Express [resuming her normal speaking voice] we can go just about anywhere we want. Paris. Hawaii.

Clark Kent: I don't care where we go, Lois, as long as I'm with you.

Lois Lane: Well, let's say we go to Hawaii. We could stay in one of those huts, right on our own beach.

Clark Kent: Oo, yeah.

Lois Lane: You know, with the thatched roof and ceiling fan.

Clark Kent: Hm hmm.

Lois Lane: Nice soft bed?

Clark Kent: Perfect.

Lois Lane: I mean, that is, if you like soft beds.

Clark Kent: Soft bed's fine.

Lois Lane: 'Cause, you know, there are other kinds of beds. There's hard, firm, straw mat, futon. Some people even like the floor.

Clark Kent: Lois, any bed that you choose will be fine with me.

Lois Lane: Well, what if it's not? I-- I mean, what if you expect one . . . type of bed, and you end up getting a . . . completely different type. You-- You might be disappointed.

[Lois takes a sip of her coffee. Clark's face turns serious, but also caring. He has been enjoying light, good-natured banter with Lois. But now he realizes what she is trying to talk about something serious. Amazingly, he doesn't yet realize just what she is getting at. Clark shows himself here a true innocent. Lois and Clark have never had intimate sexual relations together at all with each other. This is something they are saving for marriage. Passionate making out has been the extent of their physical relationship. Lois knows that many people in her era and culture have sex before they are married. She herself is not a virgin. She has heard other women in her culture speak about "sexual compatibility." Some women who have had pre-marital sex have even cited questions about "sexual compatibility" as a reason for couples to engage in pre-marital sex. Lois is worried that she might disappoint Clark in the bedroom after they get married. She has been thinking about this for some time now, and she has finally brought the subject up with Clark for the first time. She has probably thought about and rehearsed this approach.]

Clark Kent: How come I get the feeling that this isn't all about . . . beds?

Lois Lane: Well, it did occur to me that there's . . . one or two things that we . . . never talked about.

Clark Kent: One or two things?

Lois Lane: One thing.

Clark Kent: What thing?

Lois Lane: The thing.

BELOW: Clark Kent finally realizes what Lois Lane is hinting at: They are waiting until marriage to be sexually intimate, and she is worried about whether she will be able to please him:

[Clark Kent giggles.]

Clark Kent: I'm glad, too.

Lois Lane: But, then . . . It's for life and . . . what if . . . ? I mean, what if you . . . Oh! If this is half as stupid as I think it is, just kill me.

Clark Kent: [Puts his hand on her shoulder, reassuring her.] No, no, no...

[Clark puts his forehead on Lois Lane's head, trying to further comfort her, tell her that everything will be all right. Perry White walks up to Lois Lane's desk, chiding them in a friendly way for their public display of affection.]

Perry White: Hey, hey, hey! Enough of that! Lois, aren't you getting a tour of that new, uh, fun center?

Lois Lane: Oh! The virtual reality center. Yeah, uh, we were just, uh--

Clark Kent: She was filling me in on it because I-- I'm going too, Chief.

Perry White: And we're . . . on our way.

[They stand up to leave, feeling a bit embarrassed about how they were acting in the middle of the newsroom in the middle of a workday. End of scene.]

[In all serious, how many people would actually have had this conversation in the middle of the Daily Planet newsroom during a busy workday?]

Timecode: 7 minutes, 46 seconds: We see this episode's principle villain, the virtual reality geek named Jaxon, busying himself in his virtual reality center. He speaks with his computer voice, who speaks in a very human-like female voice. Jaxon is trying to break into a computer system, but keeps getting "access denied" messages. Jaxon is trying to break into a computer system that had belonged to Lex Luthor. Lois Lane is the only other person besides Lex Luthor who can access the information. As Jaxon has an animated conversation with the parent-like computer that he himself programmed to challenge him and spur him on to greater heights, a chime sounds. Lois Lane has arrived. Jaxon ushers Lois Lane and Clark Kent into his technologically sophisticated center. Jaxon is surprised that Clark came with Lois. Jaxon points out he had sent an invitation for only one.

Lois Lane: Oh, well, Mr. Xavier, this is my partner, and fiance, Clark Kent.

Jaxon Xavier: Uh, uh, please. Call me "X."

Lois Lane: X?

Jaxon Xavier: X. You know . . .

[Jaxon Xavier slashes his finger through the air to form a virtual letter X. Jaxon turns to lead Lois and Clark further into his center. Lois and Clark give each other looks that show they both think Jaxon Xavier is a little peculiar, but probably harmless.]

Lois Lane: All right. Uh, X, we've heard a lot about this place. Uh, what makes it so unique?

Jaxon Xavier: Well, uh, my virtual world is so advanced, I-- I like to say that it's beyond virtual reality.

Clark Kent: How so?

Jaxon Xavier: Well, you see, normally VR is about computer-created sensations coming at you. With the way that I've designed it, I bring you in. Your mind actually travels into my world.

Lois Lane: Well, that sounds a little dangerous.

Jaxon Xavier: Well, it's-- it's no more dangerous than putting your body on a roller coaster. You get off and on when you're told, and you're fine. You're not afraid of roller coasters, are you Miss Lane?

Lois Lane: Well, I guess it depends on whose roller coaster it is.

[Jaxon Xavier talks about how popular his virtual reality center is, with people of all ages. Even the mayor of Metropolis visited the center just yesterday, spending three hours playing golf with Sean Connery. Jaxon Xavier invites Lois and Clark to try his virtual reality technology out. He fits them with virtual reality goggles and gloves, and they enter a virtual reality simulation of Hawaii.]

[In the next room, Jaxon Xavier talks to his computer about how Clark Kent is not part of his plans. He is disdainful of Clark Kent: "Mr. G.Q."]

Computer voice: Just separate Kent and Lane in virtual world, then kill him if you have to.

Jaxon Xavier: But I've never killed anybody before.

Computer voice: Did you actually think you could take over Lex Luthor's empire and not kill one or two people?

Jaxon Xavier: Well, I never really thought about it.

Computer voice: To acquire and maintain control, a conqueror must be willing to deceive, dominate and eliminate.

Jaxon Xavier: Heh. Kill 'em. Okay. Sounds like fun! [laughs]

Timecode: 12 minutes, 27 seconds: Lois Lane and Clark Kent enter an amazingly real-feeling virtual Hawaii.

Clark Kent: So . . . You want to pick up our conversation where we left off?

Lois Lane: Why don't we wait until we're really alone, as opposed to "virtually" alone.

Clark Kent: Ah, right. Okay. Well, then, how about a virtual walk on a virtual beach?

[Jaxon is emotionally infatuated with Lois Lane, despite his computer warning him about feeling that way.]

Timecode: 14 minutes, 30 seconds: Lois Lane and Clark Kent are back in reality, on a Metropolis city street.

Clark Kent: So, now that we're back in real reality, should we finish our conversation?

Lois Lane: Clark, I want . . .

Clark Kent: Yes?

Lois Lane: Pastrami?

Clark Kent: What?!

Lois Lane: On rye. Russian dressings. Sliced pickles, side of slaw, cream soda, and then . . .

Clark Kent: And then?

Lois Lane: And then we can deal with that thing.

[Lois and Clark pass by a poster the Warner Brothers cartoon character, the Tasmanian Devil. After the pass it, the body builder avatar of Jaxon Xavier, the avatar who is known only as "X", emerges from the picture on the wall. Apparently Lois and Clark are still in virtual reality, only they think that they have left.]

Lois Lane: I think I'll have some fries, too.

Clark Kent: You're nervous.

Timecode: 15 minutes, 15 seconds: Sitting at an outdoor cafe table, Clark Kent stares in awe at four plate stacked up, plates from which Lois has eaten a rather large amount of food. Lois Lane seems to have eaten a lot, but she isn't full at all. "It's weird," she remarks, not realizing that the reason eating so much has not filled her up is that she is stil in virtual reality.

Lois Lane: Anyway, here's what's been bugging me. The other night I was thinking about all of my past relationships, and so what I did was I made a list of all the positive ones and all the negative ones.

Clark Kent: And?

Lois Lane: And they all ended up in the negative column. Especially my last one, with Lex.

Clark Kent: Ouch.

Lois Lane: Yeah.

Clark Kent: But, now you have me. So none of that matters.

[Lois Lane takes Clark's hand in hers.]

Lois Lane: Oh, Clark.

[Lois Lane kisses Clark's hand. A few feet away, Jaxon Xavier's body builder "X" avater watches Lois and Clark with disdain. "Oh, Clark" he repeats mockingly. Jaxon leaves virtual world so that he can program an event which will get rid of Clark.]

[Their conversation is interrupted the roar of engines and the screech of tires as a car comes speeding toward them. Jaxon Xavier is trying to get rid of Clark. Clark tries to use his super-powers to lift Lois Lane away to safety, but he soon realizes he has no powers.]

Clark Kent: I can't fly. Run!

[Clark barely manages to avoid getting run over. Superman arrives on the scene after the danger is over and helps Lois Lane to her feet. Lois is surprised when she sees Superman next to her, and Clark Kent many feet away. Superman acts stiffly and calls them citizens before flying away. Clark Kent looks beneath his shirt and sees that his Superman uniform isn't underneath. Lois Lane looks over at a building and see a cascading electronic effect as a scene alters and refreshes.]

Clark Kent: Something is very wrong here.

Lois Lane: I think I now what it is. Clark . . .

Lois Lane and Clark Kent: [in unison] We're still in the virtual world.

Lois Lane: We just had our most intimate conversation inside a computer with God knows who watching and listening. [Angry at Jaxon Xavier.] Oh, he's gonna pay for this!

Timecode: 21 minutes, 28 seconds: Delivering some exposition, Jaxon Xavier talks to his computer, explaining why he needs to trap Lois Lane in a virtual world

Jaxon Xavier: I can't just reach into her brain and yank out what I want. I've gotta make her tell it to me. I've gotta make her vulnerable, yet trusting. I've got to...

[When Clark Kent's vital signs play havoc with the computer's readouts, the computer wonders why Jaxon doesn't just kill Clark's physical body.]

Computer voice: Why don't you just kill his body right here?

Jaxon Xavier: Because, duh, Lois Lane has to feel that she's in her world, a world where she can trust what happens, and why. I mean, Clark Kent, he can die, but she has to see it. And then be comfored by me. Let's get her to her apartment where she feels safe!

Timecode: 22 minutes, 48 seconds: Jaxon Xavier causes all roads to in the virtual world to lead to Lois Lane's apartment building. This is Jaxon's way of prompting Lois and Clark to go into her apartment. As Lois and Clark stand outside Lois Lane's building, note how accurate this virtual reality version of Lois Lane's building is. Even the neon sign that Lois Lane's psychic counsellor Star hangs in her window on the bottom story is visible.

[In order to prompt Jaxon Xavier to show himself again, Lois Lane and Clark Kent start kissing passionately and making out on the bed in Lois Lane's virtual apartment. Jaxon Xavier, using his "X" body builder avatar, materializes in the apartment and throws Clark Kent out a window. Jaxon Xavier uses this opportunity to extract Clark from the virtual world. As soon as Clark Kent gains consciousness in the real world, he takes off his virtual reality goggles and gloves. He heads over to remove these items from Lois as well, but Jaxon Xavier shows up and tells him to stop.]

Jaxon Xavier: In this world, Mr. Kent, you take one more step forward and I can promise you, you will never get her back. [sees that Clark is backing down] Oo! Heh heh! You know, I've wondered ever since fourth grade what it would feel like just to pound guys like you. And I gotta say its . . . weird, 'cause it feels . . . great! I love it! Heh heh! So, if you wanna leave, go on. If you wanna call the cops, fine, because I can promise you, before they can get here, I will have everything that I need from her. You can call in the 87th Airborne. Nothing is gonna stop me.

Clark Kent: [addressing Lois Lane's body, which stands next to him, still immersed in VR] Lois, I'm sorry. Forgive me.

[Jimmy Olsen stands up and does his best Elvis Presley impression, still trying to persuade his boss.]

Jimmy Olsen: Chief! The King would say: "Go for it Perry!"

Perry White: I don't know. I'm gonna have to think on this one.

[Perry turns and walks away. Superman drops rushes into the room. Superman tells Jimmy he needs his help. Superman asks Jimmy to dig up everything he can on Jaxon Xavier. Jimmy does a search on the DataNet system on his computer.]

Jimmy Olsen: All right, let's see what we've got here. Jaxon Xavier. Used to work for Lex Luthor at Lex Labs. A genius, and the pioneer in virtual reality.

[Superman asks Jimmy to help him break into Xavier's computers over at Virtual Center from there in the newsroom. Jimmy says he'll try, but he'll need more powerful equipment, which Superman sets about getting for him.]

Timecode: 30 minutes, 46 seconds: Jaxon Xavier, still disguised as a Clark Kent avatar, continues talking to Lois Lane. He asks about the names she and Lax had considered for children. He suspects that Lex might have used his prospective children's names as passwords for his locked computer systems.

Timecode: 31 minutes, 40 seconds: With Superman's help in acquiring supplies, Jimmy has assembled equipment sufficient for him and Superman to break into Jaxon Xavier's virtual reality world from the newsroom. Jimmy points out the dangers of what they are about to do.

Jimmy Olsen: Uh, Superman, I can't create an escape window for us. So unless we can find Jaxon's escape window and steal it, we're gonna be trapped inside. Maybe forever.

Superman: Jimmy, you don't have to go inside. There's no reason for you to risk your life, too.

Jimmy Olsen: I know more about computers than you do, Superman. It's all about information. You've gotta know how access it and channel it. It's like one of those video games where you have to load up on ammo and fuel to win. And I'm the king of video games.

Superman: This isn't a game, Jimmy.

Jimmy Olsen: [somberly] I know. I'm just trying to lighten the moment. You ready?

Superman: I'm Superman.

Jimmy Olsen: Good point.

[Jimmy Olsen and Superman don their virtual reality goggles and gloves and enter the virtual reality world of Jaxon Xavier. We see them burst through a virtual reality wall in the virtual representation of Lois Lane's apartment building.]

[Jaxon Xavier, disguised as Clark Kent, continues to try to figure out Lex Luthor's passwords, asking Lois Lane questions. Lex had planned to have an "X" in ever child's name. He had planned to name children Alexis, Roxanne and Lynx. These are 3 of the 4 needed passwords. But Jaxon still needs one more password in order to access Lex Luthor's forbidden computer accounts. Lois Lane figures out that this isn't really Clark.]

Timecode: 33 minutes, 57 seconds:

Clark Kent (really Jaxon Xavier): Lois, did Lex ever tell you that he had a child from another woman?

Lois Lane: Yes. He said he and the boy's mother were killed in a car accident.

Clark Kent (really Jaxon Xavier): Killed??

[Jaxon gets angry as he realizes somewhat about the extent to which his biological father, Lex Luthor, had tried to disclaim any connection to him.]

Clark Kent (really Jaxon Xavier): My name is Jaxon Xavier Luthor. I am Lex Luthor's son. I never died! And you. Whoo hoo! [admiring Lois Lane's attractive physique.] You were almost my mother!

[Superman and Jimmy Olsen confront Jaxon Xavier, who drops his Clark Kent disguise and resumes his use of the "X" strong man avatar. Superman and Jimmy Olsen escape with Lois Lane into a section of the computer's unused memory. Jaxon Xavier can't find them.]

Superman: Lois, what does he want?

Lois Lane: He's Lex Luthor's son.

Superman: Luthor had a son?

Lois Lane: Illegitimate.

Jimmy Olsen: Whoa, Lex! My man!

[Jimmy is here expressing enthusiasm for Lex Luthor's "prowess with the ladies", as demonstrated by the fact that the man fathered an illegitimate child. Lois Lane looks at JImmy with disapproval for this remark. Jimmy looks chastened.]

Jimmy Olsen: Sorry.

Lois Lane: I don't know what he wants. But he was obsessed with knowing what Lex was going to name his children.

Jimmy Olsen: He wanted access codes.

Lois Lane: Access to what?

Jimmy Olsen: See, this is Luthor's system.

Lois Lane: Are you telling me that we're inside something Lex made?

Jimmy Olsen: Yes. See, there were always rumors that his VR division was working on something that could mess with your head, even brainwash you.

Lois Lane: Well, no wonder he had the mayor in here.

Superman: Sure. Lure the most powerful people in the world inside a VR amusement park. Brainwash them. And when they step outside, they're yours. So, Jimmy . . . how do we stop him?

Jimmy Olsen: The pressure's on, huh?

[End of scene.]

Timecode: 38 minutes, 55 seconds: In the real world, Jaxon Xavier sits at a computer screen, trying to figure out the fourth and final needed password to break into his father's computer system.

Jaxon Xavier: Lane. The last name. What if it wasn't Luthor's choice? What if it was hers? What if it was--

[Jaxon types in "CLARK" as the final password. The computer accepts this password, and lets him into Lex Luthor's locked LexCorp computer system.]

LexCorp computer: Access granted.

Jaxon Xavier: We're in! My father's mind control system, it-- it's all here! We're in! All I have to do is link it with my VR and every president is my puppet! Every general is my toy soldier!

Computer voice: Excuse me! We still haven't taken care of our three intruders.

[Jaxon Xavier spends the rest of this episode trying to hunt down and vanquish Superman, Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane. Meanwhile, they are trying to figure out how to defeat Jaxon and escape into the real world. They figure out that the watch worn by Jaxon Xavier and his X avatar is what Jaxon uses as an escape window. Getting to this watch is key to Superman, Lois and Jimmy escaping from the system. They can't match Jaxon/X for raw power, but they use what they know about him against him.]

Timecode: 41 minutes, 44 seconds: Jaxon Xavier, as "X", is about to pulverize Superman. Lois confronts Jaxon with words.

Lois Lane: Jaxon, I know why you're so angry.

Jaxon Xavier/X: Lex probably thought of you as a mistake. And he was never very good at acknowledging his mistakes.

Jaxon Xavier: Shut up! I'm not a mistake!

[Jaxon's avatar shifts in its appearance from X to Jaxon's real face and back to X.]

Lois Lane: He kept you around so he didn't feel guilty. He never told anyone that you were his son, did he? And he never told you how proud he was of all the work you did at his company. He never gave you his name. In fact, he told people that you were dead.

[Jaxon's "X" avatar shrinks smaller and smaller, until he is considerably shorter than Lois and Clark.]

Superman: That's probably why you like it in here, huh? You can shut all that out and pretend it never happened.

Lois Lane: But it did happen, and no matter where you run, you can't hide from what you really are.

[A saddened, distraught Jaxon changes from his "X" avatar to his real face. His face looks somber. Lois and Superman's words weigh heavily on his tortured soul. In this state, Jimmy is able to sneak up from behind Jaxon and grab him. Superman grabs his watch. Jimmy and Lois gather around Superman, who then uses the watch to zap all three of them back to the real world, out of Jaxon Xavier's virtual reality world. While they do this, Jaxon repeatedly shouts "No, no!" After Superman, Lois and Jimmy are gone, we see Jaxon continuing to have a tantrum, shounting "No!" both in virtual reality and with his real physical body.]

[Superman and Jimmy arrive Jaxon's Virtual Reality center, having quickly come from the Daily Planet building. Superman helps Lois out of the virtual reality goggles and headset. The police have accompanied Superman and Jimmy. Superman shows them where Jaxon is. still thrashing around. Jaxon's VR headset sparks and malfunctions. Jaxon's body is still.]

Timecode: 43 minutes, 8 seconds:

Lois Lane: What happened?

Superman: He disconnected.

Jimmy Olsen: Is he dead?

[Superman feels the pulse ont he neck of Jaxon's absolutely still body.]

Superman: He's still breathing but . . .

[Jimmy Olsen types out some commands on Jaxon's keyboard. Jaxon's computer monitor flashes a message: "COMPLETE SYSTEM FAILURE."]

Jimmy Olsen: System crashed.

Lois Lane: How?

Jimmy Olsen: Well, I'd have to run a diagnostic, but it looks like he did it. On purpose.

Lois Lane: So he could still be in there?

Jimmy Olsen: His mind, anyway. And if it is, it's not a place you'd wanna be.

[Superman, Jimmy and Lois all look at each other and down at Jaxon's motionless body. End of scene.]

Timecode: 43 minutes, 51 seconds: The Daily Planet.

Jimmy Olsen: Ten computer experts been in and out of Jaxon's systems for a week. So far, no sign of VR World, Luthor's program, or X.

Clark Kent: Good, because that's exactly how I feel every single time I see you.

Lois Lane: Ohh. I am counting the hours until our honeymoon.

[Clark smiles and makes an approving sound, indicating that he, too, is very much looking forward to their honeymoon, at which time he will experience full sexual intimacy for the first time. And best of all, it will be with his wife, the woman he truly loves and has pledged to be with forever.]

Lois Lane: In the meantime, what do you say we get some pastrami.

Clark Kent: You can not be hungry again!

Lois Lane: Oh! I'm a bottomless pit.

[Lois Lane and Clark Kent walk away. The camera focuses on the computer screen on Lois Lane's desk. Jaxon Xavier's face appears on the screen, screaming "Noooo!", trying to escape from the hellish computer world his soul now inhabits. End of scene. End of episode.]
