Many names can be seen in the form of graffiti and other scrawled writing walls in the Harlem neighborhood Storm visits (pages 10-15), particularly in the drug den which was the apartment she lived in as an infant. Many of these names are names of Marvel writers, artists, editors, etc., particularly those who have worked on the X-Men series. These names (in the form seen in the graffiti) include: Kinky Klaus Janson '78, Piggy, Lupe, BB, Jan, Frank, Chris '76, Grogie, Cheap Charlie, Bonnie, Mark Gruenwald, Mary Jo Duffy, Salicrup, Jim Shooter, Bobby Wiacek, Creem Corn, Shogun, High Society, Crazy Leg, Orz, Susan, Byrne, Bill, Austin, Scag City, Marv Wolfman, Lamont Johnson, Len + Glynis, Dick, M. Zeck, 60 Grand, Milgrom, Crapola Fred, Long Sam, Leialoha, Jive turkey, Piglet, Bad Bad ?, Phil '68, Dick, B. Mantlo, Randy, Marty, Ed + Rita, Dickie McKenzie, Roger, Higgins, Kimak, Lola, Wood Tank, Capotts, Franz Listz Fan Club, Schnoppsey, Marshall, Grand Central, Steve + Terry E., Funky Archie Goodwin, Johnny B, Rathole Joe, Abel, Frank, The Sharks, The Colletta Mob, Layton '73, Ed Mantels, Marty Klug, Dave + Paty, Hanigan, Whizzard.

Interestingly enough, artist John Byrne made a concerted effort to keep track of where the graffiti was. The scene in which Storm confronts heroin addicts in her old apartment takes place in an enclosed space over many pages. Often the same walls were glimpsed in multiple panels, and the same graffiti can be seen in the same position, seen from different angles, in more than one panel.
