This is a particularly important issue in the history of this series because it is the first issue which adds the adjective "Uncanny" to the logo in the cover title. The series (as far as the logo title is concerned) is thus permanently changed from "The X-Men" to "The Uncanny X-Men." The series title would remain this way (except for dropping the article "the" by issue #394) until the end of the series, with issue #544 in 2011.

The actual "official" title of the series (as reflected in the internal indicia) would remain "The X-Men" until issue #142, but in this database we generally list issues under their established cover title rather than always adhering strictly to indicia titles, so we list the issues of this series with the title The Uncanny X-Men starting with the arrival of this title on the cover in issue #114.

Although this is the 114th issue of the original "X-Men" series, it is (in one sense) the first issue of "The Uncanny X-Men."
