Adele Blanc-Sec first appeared in the titular comic strip "Adele Blanc-Sec," published in the French daily newspaper Sud-Ouest. The serialized stories were later collected and published as graphic novels by Belgian publisher Casterman.

This strip marks the beginning of the first Adele Blanc-Sec story, which would subsequently be collected as "Adele et la Bete" (in English: "Adele and the Beast."
