[from nursery rhyme; sings for his supper] Mary Cooper 9

The earliest recorded version of the nursery rhyme "Little Tommy Tucker" appeared in Tommy Thumb's Pretty Song Book (c. 1744), but the nursery rhyme itself is probably much older. In An Excellent New Medley (c. 1620), the line "Tom would eat meat but wants a knife" appears to refer to this nursery rhyme.
